This photo I took in November and all the pictures I took in this spot turned out really gray. I tried editing in Picnik and I didn't like what I came up with.
Here is the original:
In photoshop I added a "Soft Light" layer (Pioneer Woman has a tutorial on how to do this but with "Hard Light" HERE). And then I used PW warmer action (40%) and this is what I came up with:
I like how the photo pops a little now that it isn't so flat and gray. I also like that there is a little more color in her skin tone. But I am worried that I went a little over the top....
This picture is a favorite of my son. In photoshop I used PW seventies action, quick burn action and sharpen action (too much?)
great job they both pop really well!!
ReplyDeleteJess! I really love the improvements on Holly's family photo.(and Evan too) I think the lighting adjustments are great! I think it does a lot to her little girls eyes too. It makes them stand out and look clear.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's too much on Evan either. Sharpening is always good to do. I like sharpening actions. You can also set hot keys for actions. (You can set it so, when you hit F6 (or another specified key) the action will run...It just makes the process quicker when you know you're always going to be using a certain action.)
:D I love seeing what other people do in photoshop. It motivates me! Did you add a soft vignette to Evan's photo? It looks like you did to me, but it's really soft and adds just enough depth without taking away from the photo. It might be part of the 70s action? :)
Thanks Kim! On Evan's picture I added the quick edge burn action. It is one of PW's actions. It's like a vignette and I like it because it isn't too noticeable. Just enough to add depth.
